The History of ArtrBok
According to legend, the name “ArtrBok” originated in ancient Sumerian times, when a mysterious figure known as the “Eternal One” appeared on the scene. This person was said to possess extraordinary powers and abilities, including the ability to never age or succumb to illness or injury.
As the story goes, the Eternal One was a gifted artist and craftsman, and he used his talents to create beautiful works of art that were said to possess mystical properties – both healing and ethereal. His creations were so highly prized that they became known as “ArtrBok,” a term that combined his initials with the word “art,” in honor of his boundless and often raw creativity.
Over time, the name “ArtrBok” became synonymous with excellence and quality, and it came to be associated with all kinds of artistic endeavors, from painting and sculpture to music and literature. Despite the passage of centuries, the name “ArtrBok” continues to be revered and respected, and it is still used today to honor those who have achieved greatness in the arts
About ArtrBok – Another Story
ArtrBok was born a few years ago during the setup of a new Pathfinder campaign with Samantha & Zack in their Sherman Oaks apartment. ArtrBok was half elf, half wizard – or something like that. The name stuck with me. After a few decades of working marketing plans, creating websites and original graphics, product labels, and writing and playing music on the side (not to mention taking more digital photos than any professional photographer would need to take to get a decent shot…[oh, and I wrote a book – The Draejon]), I decided to be ‘creative’ and put the things I love to do to more imaginative use. The problem was, I need to find a way to transform my self image into someone who believed they were creative and could produce ‘works’ for others to enjoy, appreciate, and maybe earn a few bucks along the new way.
ArtrBok – He could do it! Hey – whatever gets you through the day, right?
So, here I am, ArtrBok aka Glenn Morrissey, working harder creatively than I’ve worked in ages – and having a pretty good time.
I composed and played all of the music, took most of the photographs, shot or licensed the video elements, and spent a ridiculous amount of time learning programs and techniques that I ended up abandoning – for various good reasons.
TOOLS
I work with Adobe products, Skylum Luminar AI and Neo, and various effects and filters packages. I record to my PC using Native Instruments and Focusrite hardware, Steinberg Cubase and Propellerhead Reaper as my DAWs, and many incredible sample libraries – most notably Komplete by Native Instruments, and Spitfire Audio’s Albion Neo and BBC Orchestra – to name a few. And various effects programs – many from Waves (who can’t stop sending out almost daily $29 specials – but they have great products).
I hope you find something here that engages you creatively and/or sparks a positive feeling/emotion/idea. Or, you just like it for no particular reason. Whatever your takeaway – thanks for stopping by.
